Gartner listed the Philippines as one of the top 30 locations for offshore services[1]. Based on
Gartner’s criteria, the Philippines fared well on cost, language, and cultural compatibility.
In October 2007, XMG reported that the Philippines is one of the top three offshore
countries in Asia. The country generated $4.1B revenues at 1.4% global market share
in 2007. Primarily generating revenues from BPO and call center services, the country
has proven effectiveness in communications, in the English language, and availability
of infrastructure in major business areas.
Furthermore, Watson-Wyatt, a firm specializing in human resource management, stated
in its November 2007 publications that that the top driver for Filipino workers
is customer focus. Compensation and benefits are only the second driver, while strategic
leadership and direction are third. According to Watson-Wyatt, “Filipinos believe
that organizations that know how to satisfy their customers tend to be more successful"[2]
In recent discussions with staff from top universities in the Philippines, the founders
of Abba Global Systems learned that at least two world-renowned IT consulting firms
are vying for Computer Science graduates from the country. The said consulting firms
believe in the quality of graduates from the top universities in the country.
